Forget glass slippers and pumpkins, this Cinderella’s got Wi-Fi and a one-way ticket to Havenshire. Great American Family is gifting viewers a royal-themed holiday romance, “A Cinderella Christmas Ball,” starring Danica McKellar as Chelsea Jones, a woman on a quest to uncover her family history. Premiering Friday, November 29 at 8:00 PM, the movie looks set to deliver a healthy dose of Christmas cheer with a sprinkle of regal intrigue.
McKellar, a holiday movie staple, takes on the role of Chelsea, a woman driven by a lifelong yearning to find her birth family. Armed with internet intel and a hefty dose of determination, Chelsea sets off for the charming royal hamlet of Havenshire during the most wonderful time of the year. Because nothing says “finding your roots” like carols and twinkling lights.
The movie kicks into high gear when Chelsea, with all the stealth of a seasoned royal-watcher, sneaks into a castle. There, she encounters the dashing Prince (played by newcomer Oliver Rice). Choreographed by Dancing with the Stars alum Gleb Savchenko, their dance lessons will likely be more graceful than a royal corgi attempting ballet.
With the story’s climax timed for Christmas Eve, viewers can reasonably anticipate a magical, possibly transformative experience for Chelsea in Havenshire. While the details remain under wraps, one can only hope it involves more dancing and less dramatic family revelations — though a touch of royal scandal never hurts.
“A Cinderella Christmas Ball” airs Friday, November 29, at 8:00 PM on Great American Family.
