Great Australian Road Trips rolls out Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 7:30 PM on SBS, with a line-up built to travel.

The six-part factual series sends four familiar faces across some of Australia’s most iconic and challenging routes. Claudia Karvan teams up with Steph Tisdell, while Melissa Leong pairs with Nazeem Hussain. Together, they crisscross highways, outback trails, and remote coastline, balancing big scenery with character-driven storytelling.

Each episode focuses on a distinct road trip, spanning Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef Drive, the Red Centre Way in the Northern Territory, and Tasmania’s west coast. Viewers also follow the duos through New South Wales’ Grand Pacific Drive and South Australia’s Kangaroo Island, with a finale set around the notoriously tricky East Alligator River crossing.

Great Australian Road Trips blends personal reflection with cultural insight. The hosts connect with locals along the way, from First Nations community members to quirky roadside characters. Conversations unfold naturally in the passenger seat, with the camera capturing not just the journey, but the dynamic between travel partners.

SBS positions the series as both a visual escape and a deeper look at identity, place, and memory. Audio description will be available on SBS On Demand, alongside multilingual subtitles in Arabic, Vietnamese, and multiple Chinese dialects.

The series marks another push by SBS into premium, personality-driven factual formats with wide accessibility.
