The A&E network presents a new episode of Cold Case Files: DNA Speaks, titled “Horror in the Dark,” airing on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 9:00 PM. This episode examines the tragic deaths of two teenagers, Llianna Adank and Eric Goldstrand, whose lives were cut short in 1977 at an Oregon park.
The story begins in June 1977 when the bodies of 16-year-old Lliana Adank and her 17-year-old boyfriend, Eric Goldstrand, are discovered at the Broken Bowl picnic grounds in Fall Creek, Oregon. The teenagers had been shot, and Lliana had also been sexually assaulted. Despite a thorough investigation and the collection of valuable forensic evidence, including fingerprints and DNA, the case goes cold for over four decades.
However, in 2021, advancements in DNA analysis provide a breakthrough. Investigators identify Ronald Albert Shroy as the alleged killer, bringing some closure to the families of the victims. Sadly, Shroy is identified posthumously, which adds a somber note to the investigation.
