Collectors Call, hosted by Lisa Whelchel, takes viewers inside the world of pop culture memorabilia collectors. In this episode, Whelchel meets legendary music producer and performer Chris Christian, who has amassed an impressive collection of props and costumes from classic movies and TV shows. The episode airs on Me-TV on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at 6:30 p.m.
Christian, a four-time Grammy winner and producer of gold records for artists like Amy Grant and Olivia Newton-John, invites Whelchel to explore his collection. Among the highlights are the “Wayne’s World” neon sign and guitar, the bench from “Forrest Gump,” and the curtain costumes worn by the Von Trapp children in “The Sound of Music.” Christian also owns a personal Victrola that once belonged to his friend Elvis Presley, the first artist to record one of his songs.
Whelchel brings in expert appraiser Greg Holman, who has worked for Heritage Auctions, to assess the value of Christian’s collection. Holman also proposes a trade for an item he has brought along.
