First up to host in Belfast this week is Donna, a food bank volunteer. Will her big-hearted nature translate to culinary triumph? She’s aiming for budget-friendly brilliance, with a starter so potent it’s being cooked in the shed (one can only imagine), a chicken and vegetable stir-fry (safe, if uninspired), and a salted caramel bombe Alaska flambéed with caramelized brandy (ambition points awarded).
Joining Donna at the table are Andrea, a 39-year-old finance professional; Aodhan, a 23-year-old drag artist; Kirsty, a 26-year-old accountant; and James, a 28-year-old manager and pilot. This eclectic mix practically guarantees fireworks. Will Andrea’s finance background make her hyper-critical of Donna’s budget menu? Will Aodhan bring the drama, or just the laughs? Will Kirsty’s accountancy skills lead to a ruthless point-by-point assessment? And will James simply fly above it all?
As always, expect the unexpected. Come Dine With Me wouldn’t be the same without strong opinions, occasionally disastrous cooking, and the constant hum of interpersonal friction.
