Comedy Series “Deli Boys” Set to Premiere on Hulu
With the series pickup of “Deli Boys” from 20th Television, Onyx Collective is continuing to build out its Hulu lineup. The comedy series stars Asif Ali as Mir, Saagar Shaikh as Raj, Alfie Fuller as Prairie, Brian George as Ahmad, and Poorna Jagannathan as Lucky. In the United States, “Deli Boys” will premiere on Hulu first, followed by Star+ in Latin America and finally Disney+ everywhere else.
After the unexpected death of their convenience store magnate father, two spoiled Pakistani American brothers are left with nothing and are forced to confront their Baba’s criminal past as they attempt to carry on the family business.
Who’s playing who in the series
Asif Ali as Mir:Mir is dedicated to the success of the family business, and he has an abundance of energy and enthusiasm. He has a standard blueprint for his life and will do anything to protect it, including hiding the less than savoury aspects of his job from his fiancée, Bushra.
Saagar Shaikh as Raj: In contrast to his mild-mannered younger brother Mir, Raj is a real wild card. Raj is a privileged hashish smoker and playboy who lives large off his Baba’s fortune and wraps his joints in gold paper. He has been pampered from birth and has never had to work for anything, so he finds Mir’s serious approach to life comical.
Poorna Jagannathan as Lucky: Lucky is one of Baba’s trusted advisors. Depending on the situation, she can be a compassionate leader or a tough cookie. Her devotion to Baba and her tolerance of Raj’s and Mir’s naiveté are both put to the test. Moreover, she will fire at you.
Alfie Fuller as Prairie: Prairie, Raj’s shaman, is a cosmologically attuned Afro-futurist-hipster who shares Raj’s “stoner heaven” mansion with a motley crew of associates.
Brian George as Ahmad: Ahmad is one of Baba’s coworkers, and he has his eye on the top spot at DarCo. He is willing to play any game to get there. He has never forgiven the privileged young men he has resented.
