The US-Mexico border is a hub of activity, a constant flow of people and goods moving in both directions. It’s also a place where Customs and Border Protection agents face a relentless battle against smuggling, working to intercept everything from drugs and weapons to people trying to enter the country illegally. Discovery’s “Contraband: Seized at the Border” gives us a front-row seat to this ongoing effort.
“Grandma’s Day Out,” airing this Monday, highlights the ingenuity – and sometimes the sheer audacity – of those attempting to move illegal goods across the border. In one instance, agents stop a truck seemingly loaded with everyday household items bound for Mexico. But X-ray scans reveal a hidden surprise: a gun and ammunition tucked inside a child’s toy box. In another, a man attempting to re-enter the U.S. finds his trip interrupted when agents discover he’s wanted for murder.
“Contraband: Seized at the Border” airs Monday, May 5 at 9:00 PM ET on Discovery.
