Contraband: Seized at the Border: Stink Bugs and Sisterly Secrets (Discovery, Monday, February 24, 2025)

Contraband: Seized at the Border Key Art

Sometimes you just gotta shake your head at the sheer audacity of what people try to sneak across borders. This week’s Contraband: Seized at the Border features enough bizarre smuggling attempts to fill a piñata, and believe me, you won’t want to miss what spills out.

First up, we have a pair of sisters pulled over for a routine traffic violation. Standard stuff, right? Wrong. A closer look reveals more than just a busted taillight; these siblings are packing some serious contraband. Details are scant, but let’s just say it’s not the kind of family heirloom you’d brag about at Thanksgiving.

Then, things get…well, buggy. A Mexican couple arrives at the border with a bag full of what can only be described as nature’s stinkiest insect: stink bugs. Apparently, these critters are destined for a culinary creation known as stink bug salsa. Yes, you read that right. Whether this is a delicacy or a dare remains to be seen, but the border agents aren’t exactly taking a sniff and letting it slide. It’s a pungent reminder that “don’t ask, don’t tell” doesn’t quite apply to customs declarations. In between these entomological escapades, Contraband reminds us that the daily grind for U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents goes way beyond weird food choices. They’re on the front lines stopping terrorists, drugs, and weapons from entering the country. So yeah, the occasional stink bug salsa bust is probably a welcome change of pace. Tune in Monday, February 24th at 9:00 PM on Discovery for the full, fragrant story.
