The long arm of the law, or at least the long lens of the camera crew, is back this Friday on Fox Nation with another episode of “Cops.” The show, now deep into its 37th season, continues its fly-on-the-wall approach to policing, presenting unscripted encounters between officers and the public. “Bagged Lady” looks to deliver the familiar mix of routine stops and unexpected situations that have kept the show running for decades.
In West Covina, what starts as a citation for a loud exhaust on an Infiniti turns into a conversation with a driver seemingly more concerned about parental reaction than the ticket itself. It’s the kind of low-stakes interaction that often fills the show, a brief snapshot of everyday life punctuated by flashing lights. Elsewhere, things escalate slightly. Riverside County deputies pull over a woman on a moped, only to discover the vehicle is reported stolen. Her explanation? She borrowed it from a boyfriend with absolutely no plans to give it back. Straightforward, if not exactly legally sound.
The episode also features another West Covina call, this time involving a probationer found with what officers deem a “felony amount” of merchandise, suspected to be stolen. Adding to the man’s troubles is the discovery of a burglary tool specifically designed for removing security tags. As always, the show relies on the officers’ perspectives and the suspects’ own words and actions to tell the story, maintaining its cinema vérité style.
“Cops” airs Fridays at 6:00 PM ET on Fox Nation.
