Coronation Street reveals who attacked Nathan Curtis and it’s not who you think

Coronation Street

It wasn’t Daniel or David who beat up evil Nathan Curtis – it was Gary Windass!

The truth was revealed in Friday night’s episode of Coronation Street (May 17), as Sarah Barlow exposed Gary Windass (Mikey North) as the person who attacked Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper). It was a surprise twist, as viewers had suspected either Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) or David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) to be the culprit.

Daniel tried to convince Bethany that he was innocent, while David’s wife Shona (Julia Goulding) checked his phone, and red stains on Daniel’s jeans worried Bethany’s mum, Sarah Barlow (Tina O’Brien). Despite David’s claims that the stains were from red hair dye, Shona remained unconvinced due to a phone tracker placing him at the scene of the attack.

However, David only vandalized Nathan’s van to send a warning, but Gary took matters into his own hands, resulting in the brutal beating. Sarah urged Gary to come forward and clear Daniel’s name, but also asked Bethany to consider Gary’s family, who are facing their own challenges.

As the plot thickened, Sarah visited Nathan in the hospital, where he taunted her. She offered him a bribe of £2,000 to drop the police case and leave Weatherfield, but Nathan countered with a demand of at least £10,000 for his silence.

Sarah conveyed Nathan’s demands to Gary, who agreed to pay the sum himself to protect his wife Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) from the truth. The police closed Nathan’s case, but Bethany’s suspicions led to Sarah confessing about the payoff. Bethany’s guess about Gary’s involvement led to a heated argument and a slap from Sarah, followed by remorse and apologies.

As the dust settles, the question remains: Will Bethany forgive her mum? And will Nathan stick to his end of the bargain once he receives the money?
