This Sunday, “Countryfile” heads to Mid Wales, exploring the rich natural world and hidden history of the Dyfi River region. From its unique wildlife to its role in top-secret wartime operations, the Dyfi has stories to tell.
John Craven takes viewers on a wildlife tour, visiting the region’s now-famous osprey couple and learning about ongoing conservation efforts for the migrant pied flycatchers. Meanwhile, a local historian reveals the untold story of the women who conducted critical, clandestine work in the area during the final days of World War II.
Further inland, Sean Fletcher gets his hands dirty, spending the day on an upland farm and discovering firsthand the particular challenges of making a living from the land, while also contributing to the preservation of the area’s delicate ecosystem.
“Countryfile: Dyfi River” airs Sunday, May 11th at 6:00 PM on BBC One.
