This Sunday, “Countryfile” takes a refreshing dip into the waters of the Wembury coast, exploring the vibrant ecosystem teeming with new life. Presenters John Craven and Vick Hope are on hand to guide us through the wonders of this unique coastal landscape, from the bustling clifftops to the hidden depths of the seabed.
Vick Hope takes to Wembury Beach for an egg case hunt, learning to identify the protective casings of various marine creatures, including rays, skates, and even sharks. She’ll also be joining marine biologists and volunteers as they release spotted ray pups into the waters of Plymouth Sound National Marine Park, the UK’s first designated marine park – a milestone moment for conservation efforts in the area.
Meanwhile, John Craven ventures inland to meet a family of clifftop farmers who have adapted their dairy operation to the challenges and opportunities of life beside the ocean. He’ll also be getting involved in a mining bee conservation project, highlighting the important work being done to protect these vital pollinators.
Beyond the shores of Wembury, Adam Henson travels to Norfolk to visit the UK’s sole outdoor commercial tulip grower.
From marine conservation to innovative farming practices, “Countryfile” delivers a rich exploration of Britain’s natural heritage and the people who work to protect it. Tune in to BBC One this Sunday, April 20th at 5:15 PM for a dose of coastal charm and countryside insights.
