A new ten-part series, “Crongton,” lands on BBC Three this Monday, bringing Alex Wheatle’s novels to life on the small screen. Set in the vibrant yet chaotic Crongton estate, the series follows Liccle Bit and his friends as they come of age, their friendships and loyalties tested by the realities of their environment.
The premiere episode, “Skin Fade,” kicks off with a seismic shift in the social order. Folly Rankin, known as Crongton’s “Top G,” is suddenly out of the picture. His absence creates a power vacuum, leaving the boys of the estate scrambling to adjust to the new landscape. Who will rise to fill the void? What alliances will form and fracture in the struggle for dominance?
“Skin Fade” sets the stage for a compelling exploration of youth, ambition, and the challenges of growing up in a community where the stakes are high and the rules are often unwritten. As darkness gathers around the edges of the Crongton estate, Liccle Bit and his friends must find their own way to cope with the changing tides.
“Crongton” premieres Monday, March 24th at 7:00 PM on BBC Three.
