Oak Island. That money pit of dashed hopes, questionable theories, and the Lagina brothers’ inexhaustible optimism. Just when you think the hunt for buried treasure has reached its inevitable dead end, History Channel throws another log on the bonfire of speculation with “The Curse of Oak Island: Drilling Down.”
This season premiere revisits familiar territory—literally. Rick, Marty Lagina, and metal-detecting maestro Matty Blake are back, poking around the Money Pit area with renewed determination (and probably some newfangled gadget). They’ll share insights into which spots they’re eyeing for potential riches, but let’s be real, after all these years, are they really any closer to finding anything besides more mud and disappointment?
“Drilling Down” serves as a companion show, offering a deeper (or at least longer) look at the Oak Island saga. It’s a chance for new viewers to catch up on the centuries-old mystery and for longtime fans to relive the highlights (and lowlights) of previous digs. Expect dramatic reenactments, expert interviews, and plenty of speculation about what might lie beneath the surface. Because even if they never find a doubloon, the Laginas have certainly unearthed a treasure trove of compelling television. Oh yeh and word up Matty Blake – stop calling fans of the show “acorns” – it’s dumb and dumbing down!
“The Curse of Oak Island: Drilling Down” airs Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET on History.
