The customer is always right? Not according to A&E’s “Customer Wars,” which returns with another episode documenting the often-contentious relationship between those who serve and those who are served. “Takeout Trouble,” the second episode of the fifth season, offers up a fresh batch of customer service clashes, from restaurants to rideshares.
In Nashville, a customer’s quest for a refund turns into a full-blown argument with restaurant staff. One wonders if the dish in question was truly that bad or if the customer simply enjoys a good confrontation. Meanwhile, in Rockford, Illinois, a rideshare driver encounters a passenger who apparently missed the memo about the destination being the end of the ride. The ensuing standoff is a testament to the trials and tribulations of the gig economy.
But it’s not all conflict and confrontation. A heartwarming moment unfolds in Phoenix, Arizona, when an airline employee receives an unexpected compliment that brings them to tears. Proof, perhaps, that even in the chaotic world of customer service, kindness can still prevail. And in New York City, what should be just another subway ride turns into a standoff between passengers, which ultimately grinds the whole train to a halt.
A cafe in Thailand also has to close due to a construction problem that is occurring nearby.
“Customer Wars” Season 5 Episode 2, “Takeout Trouble,” airs on A&E at 10:30 PM on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
