Sharpen those skates and chill the champagne, because “Dancing on Ice” is gliding back onto our screens. ITV1’s frosty spectacle returns for its 17th season this Sunday, bringing with it a new batch of celebrities eager to swap their stilettos and trainers for blades of glory.
Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern are back to preside over the icy proceedings, providing their usual blend of supportive enthusiasm and gentle ribbing. But let’s be honest, the real draw is the ragtag bunch of famous faces attempting to avoid face-planting on live television.
This year’s lineup includes a motley crew from various corners of the entertainment universe. From the football pitch, we have Anton Ferdinand. Soap opera fans will recognize Charlie Brooks and Chelsee Healey. Reality TV enthusiasts can look forward to the antics of Chris Taylor, Dan Edgar, and Ferne McCann. Rounding out the roster are Josh Jones, Michaela Strachan, Mollie Pearce, Sam Aston, and Steve Redgrave. It’s a gamble as to who will surprise with hidden talent and who will provide the inevitable cringe-worthy moments.
Judging the wobbly performances will be returning panel members Oti Mabuse and Ashley Banjo, joined by ice-dancing royalty Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean. Torvill and Dean are also set to deliver a new performance of their own, presumably to remind everyone how it’s really done.
So, clear your Sunday evening and prepare for a spectacle of sequins, spills, and maybe, just maybe, some genuinely impressive skating. “Dancing on Ice” premieres Sunday, January 12, 2025, at 6:30 PM on ITV1.
