Danica McKellar, Trevor Donovan Reunite for Faith-Focused Romance Grounded in Love

Great American Media

Great American Pure Flix will debut its newest original movie Grounded in Love on August 7, 2025, with a follow-up linear premiere set for September 27 on Great American Family. The film reunites Danica McKellar and Trevor Donovan in a Kentucky-set romance based on Angela Correll’s bestselling novel Grounded.

The story follows Annie, a flight attendant facing professional and personal upheaval who returns to her rural roots at her grandmother’s farm. There, she reconnects with childhood friend Jake—and the slow-burn chemistry rekindled between the pair becomes a launchpad for a deeper reflection on faith, purpose, and home.

McKellar and Donovan, both core faces of Great American Media’s ongoing pivot toward values-driven storytelling, also serve as executive producers. The adaptation comes from Andrea Canning and Cara Russell, with Ernie Barbarash directing and veteran producers Brad Krevoy and Amy Krell backing the project through Motion Picture Corporation of America.

This marks another strategic pairing for McKellar and Donovan, both of whom remain central to Great American’s talent retention efforts as it builds an alternative to Hallmark’s long-standing holiday and romantic drama ecosystem. With seasonal programming already locked through year-end, Grounded in Love extends the brand’s commitment to year-round, family-oriented content anchored by recognisable leads.

Grounded in Love begins streaming August 7 on Great American Pure Flix and airs September 27 at 8 p.m. ET on Great American Family.
