Vice TV’s “Dark Side of the Ring” continues to explore the often-troubled world of professional wrestling, this time turning its attention to the tragic story of Shannon Spruill, better known to fans as Daffney. “The Scream Queen: Daffney,” airing Tuesday, presents a 90-minute look at a performer whose in-ring persona masked a painful personal struggle.
Daffney, whose piercing scream became her trademark, earned a devoted following during her time in WCW and TNA. But outside the squared circle, she battled the relentless grip of bipolar disorder. While the series often focuses on infamous events and controversial figures, “The Scream Queen” takes a different approach, examining the internal battles fought by one performer amidst the high-octane world of professional wrestling.
“Dark Side of the Ring: The Scream Queen: Daffney” airs Tuesday, May 20 at 10:00 PM ET on Vice TV.
