Need a fix of Southwestern noir before March? AMC feels your pain. The network has dropped the first five minutes of the Dark Winds Season 3 premiere, offering a glimpse into the new mysteries confronting Leaphorn and Chee.
Picking up six months after the Season 2 finale, the opening scene immediately establishes an unsettling tone. Two young boys race their bikes through the stark desert landscape. It’s a scene of youthful exuberance that quickly takes a dark turn. An abandoned bicycle and a blood-stained patch of ground hint at a sinister event, immediately thrusting viewers into the heart of a new investigation.
This season finds Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) and Chee (Kiowa Gordon) grappling with the boys’ disappearance, while Bernadette Manuelito (Jessica Matten) tackles a smuggling operation with the Border Patrol, far from her familiar Navajo Nation territory. Returning cast member Deanna Allison (Emma) rounds out the core ensemble.
With an expanded eight-episode run, Season 3 looks to deepen the show’s exploration of crime and justice within the Native American community. While the first five minutes offer a chilling preview, they ultimately raise more questions than answers, leaving viewers hungry for the full premiere.
Dark Winds Season 3 premieres Sunday, March 9, 2025, at 9pm ET/PT on AMC and AMC+.
