Renee’s death had a profound impact on her children, particularly her 7-year-old daughter, Sarah Pagel, who, along with her twin brother and younger sister, lost their mother in a horrific act of violence.
The night before the tragedy was the last time the children felt their mother’s loving touch. Sarah’s father, Mike Pagel, became a person of interest in the investigation, but the case remained unsolved for years as the children grew up in his care. It wasn’t until thirteen years later that a breakthrough occurred. Mike’s brother, Charles, came forward, disclosing Mike’s involvement and leading the police to the murder weapon.
