Sir David Attenborough returns to television with Mammals, a new six-part series exploring the remarkable dominance of mammals across the planet. The 2024 series will air this week on Channel Nine, The documentary looks at a range of different habitats, The episodes are named as: Dark, The New Wild, Water, Cold, Heat and Forest.
From the minuscule Etruscan shrew to the colossal blue whale, Mammals uncovers the strategies behind their triumph. Attenborough’s series discusses how unique features, flexibility and social lives have propelled these creatures to the top of the evolutionary ladder. The opening episode, “The Dark,” spotlights the nocturnal world. It spotlights how many mammals thrive under the cover of darkness. It also touches on how some species are increasingly embracing nighttime activity to evade human interference.
The first episode goes to air this Friday at 7:30 p.m. on Channel 9.
