ITV1 is about to get a whole lot smarter – or at least, a whole lot more deceptive. David Tennant, shedding his Doctor Who persona for something a bit more Machiavellian, hosts “Genius Game,” a new reality competition that pits brilliant minds against each other in a battle of wits and manipulation. Premiering Wednesday, April 30th at 9:00 PM, the series aims to find out what happens when intellect meets cunning.
Forget physical challenges or trivia nights. “Genius Game” focuses on social strategy. The contestants, chosen for their impressive IQs and their social skills, will face a series of specially designed games with Tennant taking on the rather ominous title of “The Creator.” The goal? Outfox your opponents, deceive them, and manipulate your way to a hefty cash prize.
Based on a South Korean format, the eight-part series is set to air every Wednesday and Thursday on ITV1. It’s a fascinating premise: take smart people, put them in a high-stakes environment where social gameplay is key, and watch the fireworks. With Tennant at the helm, guiding these mental gladiators through their paces, “Genius Game” looks to offer a fresh spin on the reality competition genre. Will brains triumph over manipulation, or will the most skilled deceiver take home the crown?
“Genius Game” is produced by Remarkable Entertainment (part of Banijay UK) and airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:00 PM on ITV1.
