Salem, the town where privacy is a myth and coincidences are as common as bad hair days, once again served up a heaping helping of melodrama. Thursday’s “Days of Our Lives” saw hearts broken, treatments stalled, and suspicions ignited, all within the span of a single episode.

Young love took a detour when Holly, reeling from Tate’s accidental confession about another girl, questioned his affections. Tate, caught in a web of his own making, tried to smooth things over, but the damage may already be done. Meanwhile, Sarah’s hopes for a swift recovery were dashed as the experimental serum showed no effect. A risky attempt to walk ended in a painful collapse, leaving Maggie and Xander reeling with worry.

Elsewhere in Salem, the perpetually simmering Kristen saw red (again) when she witnessed an apparently tender embrace between Brady and Ava. Accusations flew, and Kristen’s jealousy reached a fever pitch, creating yet another obstacle in her already-rocky pursuit of Brady. Speaking of Brady, his surprising reconciliation with Xander led to a job offer at Basic Black. Could this be the start of a beautiful, if somewhat unlikely, bromance?

A small glimmer of hope emerged from Sarah’s otherwise bleak situation. A dropped water bottle, landing on her leg, sparked a flicker of sensation. While a far cry from a full recovery, this small victory offered a sliver of optimism amidst the gloom, suggesting that Sarah’s fight isn’t over. And in a heartwarming subplot, Sophia and Aaron, both nursing broken hearts and dealing with family dramas, formed an unlikely bond over a movie night, proving that even in Salem, friendship can blossom in the most unexpected places.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on Peacock.
