Days of Our Lives Tuesday December 3 Recap “Doug’s Not-So-Final Farewell”

Salem said a tearful goodbye to Doug Williams on Tuesday’s Days of Our Lives, a farewell that swerved from heartwarming tributes to jaw-dropping bewilderment. The memorial service, overflowing with Horton family sentimentality, was punctuated by Julie’s eulogy, Shawn and Ciara’s reminiscences, and a surprisingly touching musical performance by Liz. Even Marie and Liz managed a temporary truce, a testament to Doug’s unifying presence.

But amid the mourning, a Horton time capsule unveiling introduced a fresh source of drama. Letters, baby memorabilia, and Julie’s grandmother’s diamond necklace—all unearthed for a stroll down memory lane. Of course, with this being Salem, that necklace promptly vanished, adding a touch of larceny to the grief. Meanwhile, Belle and Shawn, in true Horton fashion, engaged in their usual strained back-and-forth before (eventually) communicating like semi-functional adults. Marlena, ever the efficient multitasker, attempted to reach Shane to inform John about Doug’s passing.

The real kicker, though, arrived graveside. Just when Julie thought she’d said her final farewell, a young man appeared, casually dropping the bombshell that he was Doug Williams. Yes, you read that correctly. While the rest of Salem mourned, Doug apparently decided to pull a Lazarus act, albeit with a younger, more mysterious face.

Adding to the intrigue was the arrival of Julie’s “long-lost baby brother,” Steven Olson, whose shifty eyes and lingering glances at the time capsule contents screamed “suspicious.” Olson later visited his grandparents’ plaque, mumbling about temptation and the necklace but insisting he’s a changed man. Sure, Jan. We’ve heard that one before.

With stolen jewels, a resurrected patriarch (maybe?), and enough family drama to fuel a month of episodes, Days of Our Lives delivered a Tuesday installment that was anything but predictable.

Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on Peacock.
