“Deal or No Deal Island” Gets the “Boston” Rob Treatment With New Aftershow

Deal or No Deal Island Key Art

So, “Deal or No Deal Island” is back, and it’s brought some… baggage. Season 2 of NBC’s tropical treasure hunt premieres Tuesday, January 7, and apparently, two hours of contestants scrambling for briefcases just isn’t enough. Because now, we have an aftershow. And not just any aftershow, mind you. It’s hosted by “Boston” Rob Mariano.

“Boston” Rob’s a familiar face, a known quantity in the reality TV landscape. He’s been on “Survivor,” “The Amazing Race,” even the first season of this very show. He’s also set to appear on the next season of Peacock’s “The Traitors.” Clearly, the man has a penchant for schemes and alliances, which, I suppose, makes him a fitting ringmaster for this post-“Deal” circus.

Premiering Wednesday, January 8, on Peacock, NBC’s YouTube channel, and NBC.com, “Deal or No Deal Island After Show with Boston Rob” (yes, that’s the real title) will dissect each week’s episode. Expect eliminated contestants, strategic breakdowns (or what passes for strategy on a show like this), behind-the-scenes drama, and maybe, just maybe, some unseen footage.

As for the actual game, season 2 of “Deal or No Deal Island” kicks off with a two-hour premiere on Tuesday, January 7, at 8 p.m. ET/PT, then slides into its regular 9 p.m. slot the following week. Contestants will rummage for briefcases hiding over $200 million, compete in challenges, and try their luck against the Banker, aiming to break season 1 winner Jordan Fowler’s $1.23 million haul.
