With a new set, new prize boxes, and new contestants expecting to win big money, the classic game show Deal or No Deal is coming back to television.
The series, hosted by Stephen Mulhern, will be produced by Remarkable Entertainment (a Banijay UK business) for ITV and ITVX, and feature contestants competing against the infamous Banker for a chance to win a life-changing cash reward.
A new challenger faces 22 sealed cases with varying amounts of money inside each week. Each box conceals a different quantity of money, and the winner is determined by the order in which the boxes are eliminated.
The notorious Banker is putting the player under increasing pressure to accept a cash payout in return for the contents of their box. The Banker will continue to raise his bids until one of the bigger cash prizes is selected. But if a substantial cash reward is announced, everything could change in an instant.
“Wow what an opportunity, I’m beyond excited to be hosting the brand-new series. I’ve always been such a huge fan of the show, so much so, I’ve been practising at home with small cereal boxes! It looks so simple but it’s an incredibly compelling game for both those playing and the viewers watching at home. It’s one of the greatest shows of all time and to be the new host is an honour! I can’t wait to get started” said Mulhern.
In 2002, the Dutch version of Deal or No Deal debuted. It has been commissioned in over 80 territories globally, with over 350 productions. Banijay owns the rights to the Deal or No Deal format.
Deal or No Deal is commissioned by Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Entertainment Commissioning and Joe Mace, Commissioning Editor, Entertainment, ITV. The executive producers are Tamara Gilder and Cat Lawson, joint MDs of Remarkable Entertainment (a Banjay UK company). Natalka Znak is CEO of Remarkable Entertainment, with Claire O’Donohoe as Chief Creative Officer.
