The North Atlantic, a region with a history as vast and unforgiving as the ocean itself, has claimed thousands of ships over the centuries. This area, known as the “Death Coast,” is the focus of the History channel program of the same name, where shipwreck hunter Jeff Mackinnon explores the watery graveyard in search of long-lost treasures.
In Tuesday’s episode, “Beyond the Breakers,” Jeff and his crew follow a trail of precious gemstones. Their target: The Neptune, a vessel lost to the depths. As they venture further from shore, the stakes get higher, with ominous weather adding another degree of difficulty to their perilous quest.
With exclusive diving rights and a ticking clock — they only have 12 weeks before the brutal North Atlantic winter makes diving impossible — Jeff’s team is under pressure. Add to that a decade-long ban on salvaging in this area, making their current mission all the more remarkable.
The episode features a new discovery that may or may not be connected to their search for a privateer’s lost fortune. Will it take them closer to their goal, or is it another false lead in the treacherous waters of the Death Coast? Tune in to History Channel on Tuesday, May 6 at 10:03 PM ET to find out.
