The second series of DI Ray returns with the episode “Wrong Place,” airing on ITVX on Monday, 17 June 2024, at 10 pm. D.I. Ray (played by Parminder Nagra) is back in homicide after a two-month suspension, following the fatal shooting of a nurse and the head of a crime family, which fuels tensions between rival gangs.

In this instalment, DI Ray investigates the murder of a high-profile criminal in Birmingham. The case stirs sensitive ethnic issues, igniting racial tensions and creating a personal conflict for Rachita Ray, a British Asian police officer. She must navigate her dual identity as a British citizen and a woman of South Asian heritage while trying to prevent a turf war from erupting on the streets of Birmingham.

The episode explores the complexities of Rachita’s identity and how it influences her work as a police officer. As she delves into the case, she finds herself caught between her professional duties and personal beliefs, struggling to maintain peace in a volatile environment.

Nagra leads the cast and she is joined by returning cast members Gemma Whelan as DCI Kerry Henderson, Ian Puleston- Davies as Superintendent Ross Beardsmore, Steve Oram as DS Clive Bottomley, Peter Bankole as DS Kwesi Edmund, and Sam Baker-Jones as DC Liam Payne.

Joining them are new cast members Patrick Baladi as DI Patrick Holden, Dinita Gohil as Anita Choudhry, Witney White as DC Charlene Ellis, Michael Socha as Dave Chapman, Syreeta Kumar as Sharan Mochani, Lauren Drummond as Suzie Chapman, and Taha Rahim as Ravinder ‘Rav’ Mochani.
