Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives Preview “All Over Flavor”

Diners, Drive Ins, Dives

Guy Fieri’s back behind the wheel on this week’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. “All Over Flavor” skips the usual “off the beaten path” rhetoric (because let’s be real, is any path truly unbeaten with Fieri on it?) and gets right to the gluttony. Prepare for a transcontinental trek featuring everything from banh cuon in Boston to jerk chicken in Minneapolis.

First up, Fieri hits a Vietnamese joint in Beantown. While I’m sure he’ll find some way to declare the rice noodle rolls “outta bounds,” viewers might be more intrigued by whether he attempts to pronounce “banh cuon” correctly. (Over/under on “bahn-coon”? I’m taking the over.)

Then, it’s off to Big Sky Country, where lamb meatballs and a mysterious octopus dish await. Montana’s culinary scene isn’t exactly known for its adventurous seafood, so this could be either a delightful surprise or a Fieri-induced fever dream.

Finally, in Minneapolis, jerk chicken takes center stage. Now, I love some good jerk chicken as much as the next person, but Minnesota seems about as likely a jerk chicken hotspot as, well, Montana is for octopus. This raises important questions. Is the chicken authentic? Is the chef from the Caribbean? Or is this another example of Fieri’s magical ability to find fusion cuisine in the most unexpected corners of America?

If you’re tuning in to Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives hoping for some sort of nuanced exploration of the state of modern American dining, you’re in the wrong place. But if you want to watch Guy Fieri enthusiastically consume an alarming quantity of food while sporting an array of questionable apparel choices, well, you’re probably right at home.
