Guy Fieri’s back behind the wheel, and this Friday’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” is a culinary road trip of epic proportions. From Texas-Ethiopian fusion to Gulf Coast freshness and authentic Mexican flavors, Fieri’s hitting some serious flavor high notes.
First stop: Dallas, where a joint is putting a unique spin on barbecue. Think pork ribs with an awaze glaze and brisket injera nachos – a collision of cultures that Fieri’s clearly eager to sample. Next, it’s off to Naples, Florida, for some farm-and-boat-to-table goodness. Grouper ceviche and gluten-free beignets are on the menu, a combination that sounds both healthy and decadent. Finally, “Triple D” lands in Atlanta, where a second-generation chef is serving up scratch-made Mexican cuisine. Carnitas and a barbacoa tortilla sandwich catch Fieri’s eye – and likely his stomach.
As always, Fieri chats with the cooks and customers, getting the lowdown on what makes these places tick. “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” airs Friday, May 23 at 9 p.m. ET on Food Network.
