Guy Fieri. The name conjures images of flame-broiled burgers, towering sandwiches, and enough hair gel to slick back a small army of otters. He’s the culinary equivalent of a monster truck rally – loud, boisterous, and undeniably entertaining. And he’s back on the road for another episode of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” bringing his particular brand of gastronomic glee to the Food Network.
This week, Fieri’s quest for the perfect bite takes him on a cross-country culinary adventure in search of seafood and comfort food. He swings by Stephanie Izard’s Chicago diner, where Szechuan biscuit sandwiches are apparently a thing (and honestly, I’m here for it). Then he heads south to Florida, where gangster gumbo, etouffee, and a Reuben sandwich the size of a small car await. It’s a cholesterol-laden odyssey that’s guaranteed to make your stomach rumble and your cardiologist weep.
“Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” airs Friday, January 24th at 9 p.m. on Food Network.
