Guy Fieri, the culinary crusader with more hair product than most small nations, embarks on another artery-clogging adventure in this week’s episode of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.” This time, he’s taking viewers on a “World Tour of Flavor,” which apparently involves remaining firmly within the borders of the United States. Geography’s never been Guy’s strong suit.
The episode kicks off in Naples, Florida, where Guy samples some “lights-out lasagna Bolognese.” One can only imagine the descriptions that await us – “bomb-dot-com,” “off the hook,” “this lasagna changes the game.” From Naples, he scoots over to Tallahassee for a “fresh take on shrimp and grits,” likely involving enough butter to clog the entire Florida panhandle. Then it’s a Midwest detour to Chicago for some braised pork buns that will probably make us all reconsider our life choices.
As always, expect lots of close-ups of sizzling food, plenty of Fieri’s signature catchphrases, and enough cholesterol to keep cardiologists in business for years to come. It may not be a real world tour, but hey, at least it’s a tour of Flavortown.
“Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” airs Fridays at 9:00 PM ET on Food Network.
