Disney+ is expanding its UK unscripted push with a fresh lineup of reality titles, including a modern reboot of Blind Date and two new access-driven series following Wayne and Coleen Rooney and Jamie Laing with Sophie Habboo.
The streamer has commissioned a 10-episode revival of Blind Date, with each 45-minute instalment bringing back the classic pick-a-partner format. This time, the chosen contestants will go on to live together over the summer, with new romantic options introduced throughout the series. Matthew Worthy and Kieran Doherty produce for Stellify Media, alongside Graham Stuart for SO TV.
The Rooneys (working title) is a 10-part docuseries following the couple’s home life, career pivots, and ongoing media glare. Each episode runs 40 minutes and features behind-the-scenes access across family and business fronts. The series comes from Lorton Entertainment and Blast Films, with executive producers Julian Bird, Paul Stretford, Ashley Smith, Danny Horan, and Tanya Winston. Martin Webb directs. Nonuk Walter serves as showrunner.
Jamie and Sophie: Raising Chelsea (working title) will track the Made in Chelsea alums as they prepare for the birth of their first child. The couple will front the series and also serve as executive producers through their Jampot label, alongside Gaby Aung for Disney+. The production is led by Dorothy St Pictures.
Filming is already underway on both The Rooneys and Raising Chelsea. Blind Date is scheduled to enter production later this year.
The move follows the platform’s increased focus on UK reality formats, backed by Sean Doyle, Executive Director, Unscripted, Disney+, who remains committed to building out the factual entertainment pipeline with local production talent.
