‘Do Not Watch This Show’: Andy Lee’s Hit Kids Book Morphs Into ABC iview Animated Comedy With Starry Aussie Cast

Do Not Watch This Show Key Art

ABC iview is leaning into reverse psychology with Do Not Watch This Show, a 12-part animated series from Do Not Open This Book creator Andy Lee, rolling out 4 July at 6:00 AM.

Lee voices Wizz, a frantic blue monster whose sole mission is to stop viewers—particularly kids—from watching the show. Naturally, that just makes it more irresistible. Each episode sees Wizz pulling increasingly ridiculous stunts to sabotage the audience’s attention, a gag that doubles as the show’s core engine and meta hook.

Backing Lee is a stacked comedy bench, with Denise Scott, Joel Creasey, Kura Forrester, and Dave Hughes joining the voice cast. The series also lures in a parade of Aussie celebrity cameos, including Hamish Blake, Glenn Robbins, and Carrie Bickmore—adding more fuel to its family-friendly appeal.

The project comes from Lee Bones Production for ABC, with major production investment from Screen Australia and VicScreen. Leo Baker directs, Patrick Crawley produces, and the writing team includes Lee, Jason Marion, Katie Westcott, Melanie Bracewell, and Ray Matsen. Heath McKenzie, who illustrated the original book series, leads art direction—bringing a visual continuity that fans of the books will recognise instantly.

All 12 episodes will be available to stream on ABC iview at launch.
