The fourteenth season of Doctor Who continues with its intriguing and mysterious fourth episode, titled “73 Yards.” Airing on Saturday, 25 May 2024, at midnight on BBC iPlayer and 6:50 pm on BBC One, with an earlier release on Disney+ for international viewers.
Written by showrunner Russell T Davies and directed by Dylan Holmes Williams, this episode explores Welsh folk horror. The Doctor and Ruby take center stage as they find themselves on an unexpected journey, landing on the rugged Welsh coast.
According to the official synopsis from the BBC: “The Doctor and Ruby arrive on the Welsh coast and stumble upon an eerie, isolated pub. As rain pours outside, they discover that the locals are living in fear of ancient legends coming to life.”
“73 Yards” stars Aneurin Barnard as Roger ap Gwilliam, a politician with an unknown agenda, the distinguished Dame Siân Phillips as Enid Meadows, and Susan Twist in an unnamed role.
This episode is part of Russell T Davies’ second major reinvention of the iconic sci-fi series, which commenced earlier in May with the episodes “Space Babies” and “The Devil’s Chord.” Davies has also hinted that the season finale, “Empire of Death,” will be an epic conclusion, describing it as “the biggest finale ever.”
