The iconic time-traveling adventure series Doctor Who continues with its fourteenth series, and the third episode, titled “Boom,” promises an action-packed installment. It airs via streaming on BBC iPlayer and Disney+ on May 18, 2024, with a later broadcast on Saturday evening on BBC One.

In this episode, the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and their companion, Ruby (Millie Gibson), find themselves in a perilous situation on the planet Kastarion 3. The Doctor becomes trapped on a landmine, unable to move without setting off a deadly explosion. With time ticking and the pressure mounting, the Doctor must find a way to save themselves, Ruby, and potentially the entire planet from disaster. It’s a race against time, and with the Doctor’s mobility restricted, Ruby takes centre stage in an attempt to defuse the tense situation.

Written by former showrunner Steven Moffat, “Boom” explores complex themes of faith, war, and AI. The episode explores the challenges of limited options and the race to find a solution, all while navigating a war-torn world.
