The Doctor and his companion, Ruby Sunday, find themselves at the heart of a cosmic karaoke showdown in this Saturday’s episode of “Doctor Who.” “The Interstellar Song Contest,” tying in nice with the real world Eurovision Song Contest which airs directly after this, sees the Time Lord’s travels take a distinctly musical turn. While on their continuing quest to return the accidentally-kidnapped Belinda back to her home on Earth, their search leads them to a bustling space station hosting the galaxy’s most celebrated singing competition. Think Eurovision, but with more ray guns and questionable fashion choices.
What begins as a seemingly harmless – if slightly cheesy – night of entertainment quickly morphs into a desperate fight for survival. Forget high notes and catchy melodies, the real threat comes in the form of menacing monsters. As the Doctor and Ruby battle their way through a cacophony of chaos, they must also contend with unexpected foes, all set against a backdrop of intergalactic power ballads and alien anthems.
