Don’t Hate Your House With the Property Brothers: Canine Conundrum Preview

We all love dogs. We also, generally speaking, appreciate a functional kitchen. But combine five rescue pups with a cramped cooking space and a seven-year-old, and you’ve got a recipe for disaster – or at least, a new Property Brothers series. HGTV’s Don’t Hate Your House With the Property Brothers arrives Wednesday, tossing Drew and Jonathan Scott into a fresh blend of domestic mayhem and design challenges.

The premiere introduces Johnny and Jacqui, a couple whose kitchen is less a place of culinary creation and more a canine obstacle course. Their five rescue dogs, while undeniably adorable, contribute significantly to the room’s dysfunction, making meal prep a contact sport.

Add a seven-year-old into the mix, and you’ve got a situation ripe for Scott intervention. Relocation isn’t feasible for the family, so the brothers are tasked with transforming the chaotic kitchen into a functional, family-friendly space. It’s a tall order, even for the seasoned renovation duo.

This new series is expected to bring the usual Scott brother charm, but with a twist. While previous shows have focused on structural overhauls and aesthetic upgrades, Don’t Hate Your House appears to lean into the more relatable struggles of everyday family life. Will the brothers be able to create a dog-proof, kid-friendly kitchen that also satisfies the parents’ needs? Can they maintain their signature breezy banter amidst the canine chaos?
