Apple TV+’s “Dope Thief” continues its descent into the chaotic world of two small-time grifters who find themselves in over their heads. Starring Brian Tyree Henry and Wagner Moura as Ray and Manny, along with Marin Ireland as Michelle, the series charts the fallout from a scam gone very, very wrong.
This latest episode finds Ray seeking help from a perhaps-not-so-reliable source as he tries to deal with the fallout from crossing a biker gang. Meanwhile, Manny’s grip on reality seems to be loosening, raising the stakes and adding another layer of unpredictability to the pair’s already precarious situation. And as if things weren’t bad enough, the authorities, in the form of some relentless agents, are closing in on Michelle, threatening to unravel the whole operation.
Created by Peter Craig, “Dope Thief” is a Philadelphia-set crime drama that takes the familiar trope of the botched robbery and twists it into something far more complicated and compelling.
