Double the Dysfunction: Abbott Elementary and It’s Always Sunny Expand Crossover

Abbott Elementary

The previously announced crossover between ABC’s Abbott Elementary and FXX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has doubled in size. Instead of a single episode, fans will now get two helpings of this unlikely pairing, with the casts of both shows appearing in each other’s series.

The crossover will see the Abbott Elementary teachers venturing into the chaotic world of Paddy’s Pub, a prospect that should make any sane educator shudder. Meanwhile, the Sunny gang will somehow infiltrate the comparatively wholesome halls of Abbott Elementary, a scenario ripe with comedic potential.

The tonal clash between the two shows is undeniable. Abbott Elementary is a warm, network sitcom about dedicated teachers striving to make a difference in an underfunded public school. It’s Always Sunny, on the other hand, is a darkly comedic cable series about a group of irredeemable narcissists who routinely engage in morally questionable behavior. Blending these two worlds is a risky move, but one that could pay off handsomely if executed well.
