Elsbeth finds herself investigating the bizarre world of social media influencers when Raquel Drabowski, a popular “grief influencer,” becomes a person of interest. Raquel’s career is built on the tragic story of her husband’s death, but when he miraculously returns very much alive, their reunion is cut short by his actual, final death. Elsbeth’s singular point of view is perfectly suited to unraveling the truth behind this strange and fatal turn of events.
As she digs into the case, Elsbeth’s professional life becomes complicated by her personal one. A surprise reunion with an old friend puts her in a difficult position, as their chance meeting threatens to expose a sensitive and dangerous undercover operation. Elsbeth must now solve a murder while simultaneously protecting a secret that could put lives at risk.
