In the latest episode of Emma Willis: Delivering Babies, TV presenter Emma Willis returns to maternity services after an 18-month break, this time at a larger hospital, Watford General in Hertfordshire. Over ten weeks, viewers will see Emma take on the challenge of advancing her training to qualify as a Maternity Support Worker (MSW), a step up from her previous role as a Maternity Care Assistant (MCA).
In this episode Emma confides in her husband, Matt, about her struggles to find her footing and feel valuable in her new role at Watford General Hospital, where she is now in her second week as a trainee MSW.
However, her confidence gets a boost while working in Triage, the maternity A&E department. She is called upon to assist midwife Meg in assessing a pregnant woman, Amy, who is 39 weeks pregnant and concerned about the lack of movement from her baby.
Emma is tasked with taking a manual blood pressure reading for Amy, something she hasn’t done in a year and a half. She is delighted when Meg checks her work and confirms that she got it right.
