In the fifth episode of this fourth run of Emma Willis: Delivering Babies, we find Emma confiding in her husband, musician and actor Matt, about her ambitious plan to complete her training by the end of the week. This deadline is particularly important to her as her hospital bosses are expecting her to independently run an antenatal clinic for expectant mothers.
To prepare for this challenge, Emma’s MSW Project Lead, Oz, arranges for her to take charge of a weekly pre-operative clinic. Here, expectant mothers who are scheduled for planned caesarean sections undergo reviews. Emma encounters two women with hidden veins, which presents a challenge as taking their blood for the necessary pre-operative tests becomes a difficult task.
The episode also sees Emma facing a significant moment in her surgical training. She is assessed on her performance during the caesarean section of Lizzie, a mother expecting her second child.
