Talcott Garland, an Ivy League law professor, finds his tranquil life upended by the sudden death of his father, Judge Oliver Garland. Tal’s sister, Mariah, a former journalist, suspects foul play and becomes convinced that the judge’s death was not due to natural causes. She believes that the judge, who was once a failed Black nominee to the Supreme Court, may have been the victim of a conspiracy.
