Lifetime is setting its sights on the chaotic world of love and advice columns with “Engaged By Christmas.” The film zeroes in on Zoe, whose attempt to salvage her relationship with the help of advice columnist “Dear Adora” backfires spectacularly. The reason for the holiday heart break? “Dear Adora” is actually Adam, played by Marcus Rosner. Because nothing says Christmas like a gender-bending advice columnist who inadvertently ruins your love life, naturally.
Zoe, played by Brittany Bristow, strikes a deal with Adam: his secret is safe if he participates in a series of Christmas-themed public events designed to fix her shattered reputation. This, of course, sets the stage for their eventual romance. It’s like a Hallmark movie but with an added sprinkle of mild deception and public humiliation, for extra holiday flavor.
Directed by Dylan Pearce and written by Emily Duncan and Olivia Hannah, with Imogen Cooper, Sebastian Battro, and Tom Berry as executive producers, “Engaged By Christmas” will certainly tick all the boxes for fans of mistaken identities, unexpected connections, and festive shenanigans. And honestly, sometimes that’s all you need from a holiday movie. Just don’t take any relationship advice from it.
“Engaged By Christmas” premieres Sunday, December 22 at 8:00 PM on Lifetime.
