Episode 2 of House of Gods, 3 March 2024, ABC TV
In the second episode of ABC’s new drama “House of Gods,” Sheikh Mohammad (Kamel El Basha) finds himself facing a crucial challenge as the newly appointed head cleric. His main focus now is gaining control over the mosque’s governing committee, allowing him to implement his vision for the community.
Understanding that the balance of power lies in winning the community seat, Sheikh Mohammad looks to his oldest friend Samir (Majid Shokor) as an obvious candidate. However, Samir shocks everyone by refusing the nomination, revealing that he no longer believes in God and refuses to be a hypocrite.
Meanwhile, Isa (Osamah Sami), Sheikh Mohammad’s son, assumes that he will become Vice President under his father. This position holds great significance for Isa as it would grant him control over the mosque’s treasury and enable him to honor his deal with Seyyed Modhaffer (Faris Daniel).
With Samir steadfast in his refusal to run for the committee, Batul takes matters into her own hands and resorts to blackmailing him. She possesses a shameful secret that she threatens to expose if he doesn’t agree to stand for the vote. Batul earns more favor from her father for “convincing” Samir to enter into candidacy.
Despite expectations, when Samir wins the election for the committee seat, Sheikh Mohammad stuns everyone with an unexpected decision. He appoints Batul as Vice President instead of Isa, dealing a significant blow to Isa’s plans. Now keeping his deal with Seyyed Modhaffer – and thereby ensuring his father remains in power – becomes much more challenging.
