On Saturday June 1, Hollywood actor Ethan Hawke will introduce two classic films on the TCM talk show Two for One. The Gunfighter (1950) and Gun Crazy (1950) are both considered masterpieces of their respective genres, the Western and film noir.
## The Gunfighter
Starring Gregory Peck, The Gunfighter is a dark, brooding Western that subverts the archetypes and redemptive tropes of the genre. Peck plays Jimmy Ringo, an infamous gunslinger looking to hang up his holsters and start a new life. However, his reputation draws him into a cycle of violence and revenge from which he cannot escape.
### Gun Crazy
Gun Crazy is a film noir starring Peggy Cummins and John Dall. Cummins plays Annie Laurie Starr, a sharpshooter in a carnival sideshow who meets and falls in love with Dall’s character, Bart Tare, a young man obsessed with guns. The pair go on a crime spree, with fatal consequences.
Two for One is a limited series airing on Turner Classic Movies. Each episode features a double bill of films chosen and introduced by a celebrated filmmaker. The series is hosted by Ben Mankiewicz, who interviews each guest programmer about their selection.
