Eurosport’s UK and Ireland channels have officially ceased broadcasting after 36 years, with all content now part of TNT Sports. The change, finalized on Friday morning, is the result of a deal between Eurosport’s owner, Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), and BT Sport.
Here’s the Lowdown: Eurosport, which launched on February 5, 1989, ended its linear channel broadcasts in the UK and Ireland at 2am on Friday. This follows a three-year plan after WBD acquired BT Sport and rebranded it as TNT Sports.
What This Means Now: All Eurosport content is now available through TNT Sports’ four linear channels and the discovery+ streaming service. However, this streaming content will eventually move to WBD’s other streaming platform, Max, when it launches in the UK and Ireland in January 2026.
The Bigger Picture: While Eurosport is gone from UK and Irish screens, WBD will continue to operate the brand in other parts of Europe and the Asia Pacific region. The consolidation under TNT Sports significantly expands its sports portfolio, which now includes major football leagues (Premier League, Champions League), rugby, tennis Grand Slams (French Open, Australian Open), the Olympics, cycling (Tour de France), snooker, basketball (NBA), baseball (MLB), and more. This creates a powerful single destination for sports fans.
