The Grand Final Approaches as Malmö Prepares to Host Europe’s Biggest Music Competition

The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 heats up as the competition moves towards the highly anticipated grand final. On Thursday 9 May at 9 pm CEST, sixteen countries will take to the stage in Malmö, Sweden, for the second semi-final, all vying for a chance to secure one of the remaining ten spots.

With Finland, Sweden, Israel, Czechia, Moldova, Norway, Switzerland, Croatia, Portugal, and Serbia already through from the first semi-final on May 7, the pressure is on for the remaining artists to deliver their best performances yet.

Tonight’s show promises a diverse range of musical styles and performances. Among the stand-out acts is Switzerland’s Nemo, an early favorite with their song “The Code.” They are joined by Austria’s Kaleen, bringing a 90s vibe with her dance anthem, “We Will Rave.” Meanwhile, representing the Netherlands, Joost Klein will perform his viral hit, “EuroPapa,” which has already made a significant impact in his home country.

It’s not just about the competition, as the interval acts are set to thrill with performances from past Eurovision winners. Helena Paparizou, Sertab Erener, and Charlotte Perrelli will take to the stage, performing their winning songs, “My Number One” (Greece 2005), “Everyway That I Can” (Turkey 2003), and “Take Me to Your Heaven” (Sweden 1999), respectively.

As we build up to the grand final on Saturday, May 11, at 9 pm CEST, the excitement continues to grow. With the “Big Five”—Italy, France, and Spain—already guaranteed a place, they will join the host country, Sweden, and the twenty qualifiers from the semi-finals for a night of unforgettable musical performances and the all-important vote to decide the winner of the coveted Eurovision trophy.
