Necaxa, a new docuseries backed by Eva Longoria, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, will premiere Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 9:00 PM ET/PT on FXX. Episodes will stream on Hulu the following day and reach global audiences via Disney+.

The series follows the rebirth of Club Necaxa, one of Mexico’s oldest football institutions, as it fights for relevance in a modern, media-driven league. Once a national powerhouse, the Aguascalientes-based team now faces upheaval across management, coaching, and its playing roster.

Necaxa offers a ground-level view of this transformation. Cameras track the players, the backroom staff, and the wider community during a turbulent season. The club’s ownership group, led by Longoria, brought in McElhenney and Reynolds after their success with Wrexham to help reignite the brand. The result is a series that pivots between behind-the-scenes disruption and on-field ambition.

The first six episodes will roll out as two-per-week across the opening three Thursdays. From August 28, new episodes will shift to a weekly schedule, with the season wrapping on Thursday, September 18, 2025.

Filmed in Spanish and English, the series brings international production values to a uniquely Mexican football story. Beyond tactics and transfers, it looks at belief systems around the club, from devoted fans to hardened critics. It also puts pressure points like injuries, staff turnover, and playoff contention into sharper focus.
